8 weeks left!

28 Nov

This week, my brother weights about as much as a jicama (about 3.75lbs), according to the BabyCenter. He’s growing a ton, and will gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside of his womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). His skin is becoming soft and smooth as he plumps up in preparation for birth. Mom has even begun feeling some Braxton hicks contractions this week. Mom will go for an ultrasound on Tuesday so we’ll get to see how big the little guy actually is then!

This past week has been pretty busy for us! Mom came back from Marco Island on Wednesday, and Dawn and Vinny came to stay on Wednesday night for Thanksgiving. We spent Thanksgiving morning cooking for Thanksgiving dinner. Mom made pretzel rolls, apple sauce, and cranberry chutney. The pretzel rolls were a huge hit and will be making a repeat performance on Christmas Eve!

We spent Thanksgiving afternoon at Barb and Len’s. We even got to meet Tina and Mark’s addition to the family, Duke.

Friday, we spent time lounging around and Mom, Dad, Dawn and Vinny visited Frances deli for lunch, then got me a new crate (50% off thanks to Black Friday deals) and Uncommon Ground for dinner. Mom and Dad made a repeat performance on Saturday at Uncommon Ground with Barb and Len for breakfast. Sunday, Mom and Dad went to The Original Pancake House in Park Ridge with Caroline, Mike and Lila, and Barb and Len! Then Mom met Kristin for Coffee at Starbucks.

The nursery also got some TLC this weekend. Mom and Dad put on the baby’s sheets, hung the mobile, and hung up the Curious George decals (thanks Mary H-T and Hope)! The nursery looks great — just add baby! The rest of the weekend was spent lounging around meeting Dana and Nicole’s new puppy, Mrs. Dalloway (Dally for short).

I’m off to bed now and to sniff my butt! Have a great week!
