Happy Second Birthday, Ethan!

17 Jan

Ethan had a great second birthday! He started the day visiting Aunt Libby for some gifts. Then we went to the doctor. Ethan weighs 27 pounds (38 percentile) and is 33 3/4 inches tall (42 percentile). He enjoyed a no shot appointment! We then met Aunt K to say hi!

Then we took E to school where he brought in clementine oranges to share for a snack. They enjoyed peeling them and eating them. They brought him balloons, made him a banner, and even made cupcakes for him! He really had a lot of fun!

We went for the mini party after his nap. We then came home and had a little pizza and cupcake party for Ethan. He had so much fun with Cousins Lila and Marco, Mimi and Pop Pop, Aunties Tina and Caroline and Uncle Mike!

He had such an amazing day! We are excited to continue the celebration this weekend!!

Ethan’s First Soccer Practice

8 Sep

Today was Ethan’s first day of soccer at Little Kickers! He had a lot of fun playing with his friend / future wife Chloe. It was a lot of fun for Ethan (and for Ben and I To watch)! Ethan’s favorite part was the races! They get their uniforms next week, so we will be sure to take some more pictures then!

Labor Day Weekend and Caroline’s Visit

8 Sep

We had a great long labor day weekend with Caroline visiting from Alabama. We went to Cafe Touché, Frances, Ravinia to see Hall and Oates, shopping downtown, RPM Italian, the pool, and many other fun places. Caroline also gave me this awesome cookbook, from the Bottega cafe we visited when in Alabama, which we made focaccia, pizza, and pesto from scratch! Ben, Ethan and Caroline wore their college colors on Saturday and Ethan got his haircut on Sunday! We had such a great visit and can’t wait to see her again soon!

25 Jun

We had a great weekend! On Friday, I had to work so Aunt Kristin took Ethan to the pool!

On Saturday, Ethan woke up early so we walked to Starbucks. Then we headed to breakfast at LePeep and then the Park Ridge Farmers’ Market. We ran into Auntie Caroline, Lila and Mimi!

The we decided to beat the heat and went to the pool!

After the pool, Ethan and I both took long naps. When we woke up we went to Chipotle. Ethan loved his quesadilla! Then we went to Homer’s ice cream and to visit Auntie Neener in Lake Forest! She and Uncle Mark have a great house with a very large backyard that Ethan loved exploring.

Sunday was another early morning walk to Starbucks, followed by breakfast with Mimi and Pop Pop at Ina’s! We then set up the pools in our backyard. Ethan especially loved pouring water from one pool to the next. In the afternoon I played in the Father/Daughter golf outing with my Dad, and Caroline and Libby. We missed Tina!

We shot 2 over par as a team and had fun!
I hope everyone else had a great weekend as well…and hope everyone has a great week! Cheers!

4 Feb

Today, Ethan, Ben and I visited the Shedd Aquarium! We started the day at Frances’ Deli and then headed to the Shedd. We had a great day. Ethan loved looking at the sharks, jellyfish and penguins. He was a little afraid of the beluga whales!

I’ve included a collage below! We have had such a fun Saturday!

Party Details!

23 Jan

We had some people ask about our decorations and food for our very hungry caterpillar party, so here are the details! Leave me a comment with any additional questions and I would be happy to respond! We had so much fun decorating this party around such an awesome book! Enjoy!

Eric Carle Garland from Amazon

Photo Garland with Monthly Pictures (I hung the pictures with clothespins and then put a sticker with the corresponding month on them!)

I covered the boxes that the silverware came in the Eric Carle dot print from the book!

The Spread

Underneath the food, I wrote the text of the book. First up with Deviled eggs with "One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and -pop- out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar. He started to look for some food"

Continuing on "On Monday he ate through one apple, but he was still hungry. On Tuesday he ate through two pears, but he was still hungry.."

"On Wednesday he ate through three plums but he was still hungry, On Thursday he ate through four strawberries but he was still hungry, On Friday he ate through five oranges but he was still hungry."

We got creative with Saturday and this is where we did the bulk of the meal, and put "On Saturday he ate through one piece of chocolate {chip cookie} cake, one cheese stick, one stuffed shell , one slice of swiss cheese, one slice of salami, one piece of pizza bread and one cupcake, that night he had a stomachache. "

We finished with a mini salad bar my Mom made. This was perfect as a few of our guests have various food allergies, so this ensured everyone could eat a little something! "The next day was Sunday again and the caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf and after that he felt much better."

On the side table when you walked in, there was a Very Hungry Caterpillar book for people to sign and photo strips of some of Ethan's instagram prints to take home! Edith Drew designed these for me on photoshop!
